For the kind, lost souls that are still coming here…

Regrettably I have to inform you that TNAUK is no more. I’ve been so busy with other projects, including writing for other wrestling websites that I just don’t have the time to devote to writing, posting and editing the many contributions to the site each day.

Going forward i’ll be focusing my attentions on my other writing obligations at 1Wrestling.com and will also be posting regularly at my personal blog The Daily Dropkick, where you can still get your daily dose of news, rumours, interviews, reviews and ratings reports. All my regular features you know and love from TNA UK will be available there.

I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished at this site over the last year and half, we’ve done a great job promoting TNA and i know for a fact it didn’t go unnoticed. The aim was ultimately to provide a place for UK TNA fans to congregate, get news and debate and we provided that, however with the advent of the Official UK TNA Facebook page, i’m not sure thats a service that we need to be providing anymore and if anything we’re drawing readers away from the official avenues.

I want to thank everyone who contributed to the site over its lifespan, your all very talented individuals and it was a joy working with you all and editing your work (even when submissions were late or you spelt D’Angelo Dinero wrong five times in a single article!) and I know many of you will be writing blogs of your own going forward and I for one will be reading.

And lastly you, dear reader. Thank you for visiting, commenting and making this blog relevant. I hope you’ll continue to do so over at my new home – dailydropkick.blogspot.com

Many Thanks,

IMPACT Wrestling kicked off the first set of TV tapings yesterday (Monday) at the Impact Wrestling Zone, Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. These episodes of IMPACT Wrestling and Xplosion will air in the UK on Tuesday 2nd & Wednesday 3rd of August on Challenge. WARNING THIS REPORT CONTAINS SPOILERS for upcoming episodes of IMPACT Wrestling and Xplosion – DO NOT READ on if you wish to avoid spoilers. Otherwise, click the “read more of this post” option at the end of this paragraph.

Impact Wrestling:

- Kurt Angle came to the ring for a promo. He asked Hulk Hogan to come out so they can end this once and for all. Angle said all week that Hogan has been blowing up his phone. Angle says there is nothing appealing to him about Immortal. It is led by two of the biggest scumbags in the world in Bischoff and Hogan. He is going to beat Sting for the TNA World Heavyweight Title at Hardcore Justice and because he has never beaten Sting before. He wants to prove that he is the best in the world. He asks if Hogan knows what it’s like to be the best in the world. Hogan says he knows. When there was no Sting, Matt Morgan, or Rob Van Dam.

When there were no ‘Young Guns’ he carried the business on his back. He turned the business from territories into an international phenomenon. When Angle was still pooping in his diapers, Hogan was selling out arenas. Hogan says he has been calling Angle because he thinks Angle has had a vision of a higher level. He wants to help Angle make more money. He questions why Angle is disrespecting him.

Angle says that the reason he is not kicking Hogan’s ass now is because he respects Hogan. Angle says unlike Anderson he can’t be bought. Hogan says he paid to see him like many others. Angle questions if he can go anymore and Hogan says that he will never set foot in this ring anymore due to his eight back surgeries. Hogan says that if Angle is going to keep insulting his kids and whatnot then Angle will have to prove something.

He calls what Angle has done a fluke, including his gold medal win. If Angle wants to fight with him over pride, we are close to seeing that right now. Angle says that there is no doubt in his mind that Hogan can still go. Hogan asks Angle what he is trying to say. Angle says Hogan is trying to pay him money to take out Sting. Angle says why doesn’t Hogan take out Sting himself and then Angle leaves.

- Rob Van Dam defeated Gunner in a Bound For Glory Series Match with a five star frog splash.

- They did a backstage promo with Eric Bischoff and Immortal (Bully Ray, Jeff Jarrett, Abyss, Ken Anderson, and Karen Jarrett). The Network has sent a letter to Bischoff that due to the success of Destination X they have to bring in more X Division talents. Hogan shows up and says he wants to eliminate Angle. Brother Ray volunteers Ken Anderson to do it. Ray says if Anderson is afraid they can have Karen take care of it. Bischoff reads more of the letter but Sting shows up in a red suit and he is carrying a black cage that is covered up. Sting says that everyone in Immortal knows that he has a great relationship with the Network. Sting tells Immortal that he is now the Network Executive. The first line of business is he is confirming Kurt Angle versus Ken Anderson tonight is a Steel Cage Match. He then says that Fortune is going to be around the ring to make sure that Immortal doesn’t get involved. Hogan tells Sting that has no power to do that, but Sting says he just did it.

- Brian Kendrick and Alex Shelley come out for a promo. Kendrick says some cryptic stuff and Shelley translates it as “Austin Aries is a jackass” and calls Aries out. Aries comes out to the ring (Aries has new entrance music and video for the screen). Shelley drops names of people who helped define the X Division including Low Ki, Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, Brian Kendrick, and himself. Shelley commends Aries on winning the contract but says the X Division was defined on ‘hybrid wrestling’ and calls out Aries on his cheating.

Aries says he played by their rules when he beat two guys to qualify and he continued to play by the rules when he beat three guys to earn his contract. Now he is playing by his rules. His one rule is to win at all costs. He says Shelley and Kendrick are about pleasing the fans but Aries is out to do what is best for himself. He points out that he has had plenty of five star matches but he is about having a five star bank account. With him the ends justify the means and the ends will be him winning the X Division Title.

Kendrick takes the mic and says some more cryptic stuff. Aries asks if he can get that translated. The crowd chants you suck and Shelley says there is the translation. Shelley says he is going to get his rematch at Hardcore Justice against Kendrick and Aries will be involved in a Three Way Dance.

Abyss comes out and says they don’t make the decisions. Abyss says he is getting his rematch against Brian Kendrick tonight and he will kill the X Division once and for all. Sting comes on the screen and he says he has more stroke than Hogan and Bischoff combined. Sting says they will find out if monsters are afraid of heights because Abyss will face Brian Kendrick for the X Division Title in an Ultimate X Match.

- Crimson defeated Bully Ray in a Bound For Glory Series Match.

- Winter defeated Tara. Angelina Love and Miss Tessmacher came out with their respective partners but were sent to the back before the match started. Tara went for the Widow’s Peak but referee Earl Hebner got bumped, Winter hit Tara with a mule kick followed by the Swinging Side Slam into a Backbreaker for the win.

- Velvet Sky and Traci Brooks come out for a promo. Traci says she is issuing a personal invite to ODB and Miss Jackie. They walk down the ramp. Traci says she was the original Knockout. She says that TNA asked her to move aside to make room for fresh faces. Traci says that she didn’t try to jump over people like Velvet. This ends tonight.

ODB says that she and Jackie didn’t lose her jobs until Velvet started rubbing herself all over the ropes. Velvet left no room for the real ass-kicking women.

Velvet takes the mic and talks about how she was bullied when she was younger. As she grew older, she told herself she was not going to be a victim. The day she came to TNA was the happiest day of her life. She earned her spot. Velvet says she doesn’t owe them an apology. She understands the way both of them feel. Velvet says if they wanted their jobs they should have tried asking. Velvet says that they can do whatever they want here, but Velvet is no longer being anyone’s punching bag and walks out.

- Backstage, Fortune is talking and mention how they have a Six Man Tag Match at Hardcore Justice. Daniels pulls AJ aside and asks if he remembers what they talked about last week.

Sting shows up and asks if they are ready to keep all the bad guys away from the ring tonight. AJ asks what is in the cage he is carrying around and Sting says it is a present for Eric Bischoff, and he is going to give to him right now.

- TNA X Division Champion Brian Kendrick defeated Abyss to retain the TNA X Division Title in an Ultimate X Match.

Throughout the match, Abyss was hesitant to climb to the top rope, and tried shaking the Ultimate X structure to knock down the X Division title. Kendrick tried to climb the cables but Abyss managed to stop Kendrick a few times. Abyss went to chokeslam Kendrick but he lifted Kendrick up high enough for Kendrick to grab the X Division title and win the match.

- Kurt Angle defeated Ken Anderson in Steel Cage Match. At one point, Kurt Angle hit a top rope Angle Slam on Anderson. Immortal came down to the ring to battle with Fortune. Mexican America came down to the ring and targeted Beer Money. Bully Ray shows up on his own when everyone else was gone from ringside. He used one of the camera cuts in the cage to grab Angle, distracting him and giving Anderson the advantage. Ray opened the cage door to give Anderson a chair. As Anderson went to take the chair, Ray held onto it. Angle took advantage and hit Anderson with the Angle Slam and got the pin.

After the match, Ray walked up the ramp and left. The lights went out and Sting was in the ring and raised Angle’s arm for his victory.

Xplosion:

- Crimson defeated Devon in an Xplosion Championship Series Match.

Sting becoming a 4 time TNA World Heavyweight Champion this week on Impact Wrestling

A little bit late this week but nonetheless, here is my weekly rundown of this weeks edition of Impact Wrestling Hits & Misses…

THIS WEEKS HITS

Evil Clowns
Since they are going down the “joker” thing with Sting, it only made sense they used the first part (minus the bus and they didnt shoot each other) of “The Dark Knight”. In a way im glad they didnt use this to introduce new wrestlers to our screens as that would have sucked, but using Fortune was great, as it kept the ongoing feud alive with Immortal alive by the clowns attacking members one by one, plus its quite funny to see Karen screaming and running in heels (should always look in the back seat of cars before getting into them). Gunner looked the strongest of Immortal by wanting to go out looking for them but didnt expect getting jumped by all 4 of them

Samoa Joe vs The Pope vs Robert Roode
Although I like the BFG Series and this week they have stated that there are 8 weeks left but they havent stated how many matches everyone will compete in? So someone like Crimson can have 10 matches but Gunner could have like 5 (in theory). However the match itself was good, playing up more to that Joe thinks he’s keeps gettng screwed by the referee. The match may have lasted 5 minutes or so but it kept all the action coming fast, which was good, the ending I thought was cleverly played out, The pope kicked off the apron and Joe constantly going for the 10 points in any match and it always backfires on him. Hopefully Joe bounces back soon and starts earning some points.

Bound For Glory hype
Over 3 months away and already im a little bit excited for it! Having the BFG competitors taking about how much it means and Kurt saying what the big show means, you dont see that happening in WWE. Im glad that TNA are taking their biggest show on the road, but part of me would like them to do that with all their PPV events (and hopefully one of them over here in the UK where TNA kicks ass in the ratings!)

The British Invasion vs Mexican America
Good hype from Magus before the match, glad to see some people are still taking tag team wrestling seriously! While Anarquia just seems like a really piss poor version of Chavo Guerrero. The match itself was good one of the better matches on tonights Impact Wrestling, but why after saying that “los prostitutos” wouldn’t get involved they had to give the screwy ending to it? I dont think this is gonna end here tonight id expect to see more between these two teams in the very near future before one of them gets their title shot.

Kurt Angle promo
YES! Money on the promo! Kurt hyping up both his potential opponents, nice for him mentioning his past with both men kinda sets the thought of he doesnt care who wins, one of them is gonna tap! Angle claiming no matter who he faces he will walk out of Hardcore Justice the new champion!

THIS WEEKS MISSES

Mr Anderson vs Sting
And the new transitional champion is ….. Mr Anderson! Way too quick to remove the belt off of Anderson, I would have loved to see Anderson successfully defend the title atleast once! So atleast we were led to believe with the Evil Clowns taking out Immortal one by one we would get to see a fair match, but then to have Angle come out and help Sting win the title just seems a weird move to make considering Angle will now face Sting at Hardcore Justice, im gonna go out on a limb and say that somehow Sting retains at Hardcore Justice and feud with Hogan for the title.

Opening Segment
Im still praying that one day I tune into Impact Wrestling and they open with a match and not a segment with 3 guys in their 50′s while watching that segment, everyone in that ring has a combined age of 354 which averages out to 44 (Sorry Gunner you just gained 15 years). Lets face it these guys (barring Gunner and the clowns) are not the future of this business, why not open up with someone who has the potential to be the next big wrestler, better yet why not throw some fresh blood into the World Heavyweight Title picture?? One day…. I have hope…. But nonetheless good promos from all kept short and sweet and straight to the point.

Austin Aries vs Shannon Moore
Will the Book of Diligaf ever go away?? Shame to see no real proper hype up for Austin Aries just a quick 15 second look at the 4 way match at Destination X, the match itself was good and some cool high spots from Moore, the ending however was just poor! After his match at Destination X, Aries uses a chain to win, just not the road to start him on! Nice to see Alex Shelly coming to the ring afterwards to question Aries about the chain was ok, im guessing we are going to see a reiginition to the old “paparazzi productions” feud which i would like to see as long that they give them decent time to build and work the matches.

Tara vs Madison Rayne
So if this was meant to be the blow off between these two, could TNA done anything more to make it feel so meaningless?? For one they brought back that damn spider! Not to mention Madison getting all excited by a present from her opponent? SERIOUSLY?? If this is the end of the feud (which I hope it is!) then this should in theory give Madison the chance to start going back for the Knockouts title and hopefully give Tara the chance to start working with the younger knockouts and help develop their in ring skills (Miss Tessmacher being one of them)

Next Weeks Hype
This is just a small annoyance I have with TNA, dont get me wrong its good they are advertising stuff for next week but there are a few issues I have with it, first of all Velvet Sky is the number 1 contender for the Knockouts title all of a sudden?!?! Seriously?? Just no proper hype into a title match with these two, no number 1 contenders match?? Fine Ok ill buy that for now. Secondly after their big matches at Destination X, Shelly gets his title match against Kendrick?? This should be on a PPV not to mention they are building up Shelly/Aries rivalry.

TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Bit random that I have given a title a miss, my reason behind it is that lately the title doesnt seem meaningful! So far this year the title has changed hands 5 times (since January 2011) and twice it has changed hands on the weekly show. To me the World Heavyweight Championship is your main title, its the belt everyone wants, its the one title that will make everyone have their big match with so why ruin it by having a 10 minute or so match on TV to crown a new champion?? It takes value away from it, it should be saved for the big shows like PPV events, id just hope that this belt doesnt go down the route of the WCW World title did and devalue it anymore.

So thats it for this weeks Hits & Misses, as always feel free to leave any comments below or on twitter at twitter.com/DinoLamp.

Ray Mullan reporting for 1Wrestling.com. IMPACT Wrestling’s internationally syndicated program – “TNA Xplosion” goes prime time on Challenge TV in the United Kingdom following strong ratings. Find out what happened as “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero and Alex Shelley faced off for a place in the next round of the Xplosion Championship Challenge…

Before I get into the report, I guess a little background is in order for our U.S. readers who may not have seen TNA Xplosion as yet. The Tuesday 25th May episode saw the return of Desmond Wolfe in the role of Xplosion commissioner. Desmond wasted no time in creating the “Xplosion Championship Challenge”, a 16 man tournament with the winner earning the right to a title shot of their choosing. The results of the first round bracket were as follows:

XPLOSION CHAMPIONSHIP CHALLENGE BRACKET:
1st Round: “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero d. Suicide
1st Round: Crimson d. Robbie E
1st Round: Devon d. Anarquia
1st Round: Douglas Williams d. Amazing Red
1st Round: Magnus d. Orlando Jordan
1st Round: Alex Shelley d. Okada
1st Round: Shannon Moore d. Jeremy Buck
1st Round: Hernandez d. Max Buck

And so we find ourselves this week at the beginning of round two. Tonight’s combatants are “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero and Motor City Machine Gun – Alex Shelley, only one man can progress.

The Xplosion opening sequence rolls and we head to the announce team, Jeremy Borash and Taz. JB hypes tonight’s show in which we’ll find out what went down at the conclusion of this week’s IMPACT Wrestling, backstage gossip in the Spin Cycle and this week’s IMPACTWrestling.com match of the week which sees Kurt Angle, Sting and Matt Morgan in a three way from Hard Justice 2009. But before all that, it’s time to head to the ring for the first match in round 2 of the Xplosion Championship Challenge!

Match 1: “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero vs. Alex Shelley
Jackson James is the official for this one. Series of headlocks from Shelley early on as he tries to keep the Pope grounded. The pope rallies back with a shot to the gut and whips Shelley to the ropes. Float over from Shelley who turns and locks on another headlock. Some “headlock” chants from the fans at the Impact Zone, appears their allegiance lies with Shelley in this one.

Pope escapes, only to have his legs cut out from under him, pin attempt from Shelley garners only a one count. Move and counter-move here. Strong kick from Alex who then signals for Sliced Bread. Reversal from Pope sends him into the post. Pope going to his corner and grabs that “Bling” necklace, is he going to use it? Devon’s sons cheering Pope on, but Dinero is having second thoughts about the necklace, perhaps he wants to be a role model afterall? Meets an elbow from Shelley now and a leg lariat sends Pope to the outside.

Devon’s sons offering encouragement to Pope but Devon obviously taking exception to that and makes his way down the ramp. Pope backs off and returns to the ring, delivering an uppercut to Shelley. In the corner, Pope reverses a kick attempt and hits a neckbreaker on Alex from the ropes! Ouch! Shelley crawling to the ropes on the other side, but gets a running jump from Pope for his troubles. Pope to the top now, tip of the hat to Savage I believe with a signal for an elbow drop, and he connects! 1…2…kickout from Shelley.

Shelley showing a lot of resiliency here, chops away at Pope and goes for Sliced Bread but fails yet again.Chops from Pope, WOW! A springboard kick out of nowhere from Shelley, Pope dosen’t know where he is! Kick to the face for good measure, is it going to be Sliced Bread again? Yes it is! And Shelley manages to hit it this time. Cover for a 1….2….3!! Shelley wins it! Tremendous match-up and Shelley wins in somewhat of an upset.
Winner: Alex Shelley

Back to the studio and it’s time for the latest edition of the TNA Spin Cycle with Jeremy Borash. This week’s guests are Austin Aries, Tara, Magnus and Douglas Williams. The panel discuss the UK’s best exports. SoCal Val was berated by the panel for yelling “Harry Potter”. The British Invasion collectively cited the Rolling Stones and Tea, not a bad combination though I’m pretty sure Tea originated from China but we’ll not get picky! Austin Aries believes the best export is Quorn, who specialise in non-meat based products aimed at Vegans, of which surprisingly Austin Aries is one! Would expect he’s in the minority in the wrestling business given the constant need to bulk up.

The panel then moves to JB’s favourite segment, “Revelations!”, whereby each of the panellists reveal a secret. Tara’s revelation is that she cannot go a single day without eating cheese. Aries revealed. The British Invasion boys revealed a couple of shockers. Ladies and gentlemen, Douglas Williams, the man who cites himself as enjoying the finer things in life was once a PUNK, complete with spiky hair, chains and piercings. I find it hard to believe, but I’m sure there’s a potential angle with Ink Inc. in there somewhere. Magnus, a regular of the show and thus a man’s for whom revelations are running rather thin on the ground, revealed that he once posed Nude for a woman’s magazine called “Heat”… I’ll not even begin to comment on that one.

Next up, this week’s IMPACTWrestling.com classic match of the week, from Hardcore Justice 2009 – Kurt Angle vs. Sting vs. Matt Morgan for the TNA Title. A hectic, fast paced affair that was as good as I remember it. A heel Kurt Angle comes out on top following a vicious chair shot on Matt Morgan. This is definitely one to track down if you have yet to see it.

Finally we close out the show with the IMPACT Wrestling Rewind as we take a look back at the Mr. Anderson vs. Sting World Heavyweight title match. This was a real thriller and in this writers opinion a great conclusion to the best episode of IMPACT Wrestling this year.

IMPACT Wrestling star Ken Anderson told the Dover Post that he doesn’t plan to stick with wrestling for much longer.

“If I’m still doing this five years from now, please, just shoot me,” Anderson said. “I love the wrestlingbusiness, I love entertaining people, but it doesn’t define me. And for people who are defined by this, that’s fine. I don’t judge them or look down on them, but it’s not for me. After 13 years of taking abuse I have aches and pains, and my wife calls me the old man a lot — more than I would like for her to call me. But I know that I can’t do this forever.”

Anderson said he would like to continue acting once his career ends:

“‘E.T.’ was the first movie I ever saw in the theater, and I remember looking at my mom and asking, ‘How does somebody do that? I want to be Elliott.’ It just so happens to be that I live in the greatest country in the world where you can do anything you want. And if you want to be an actor and you work hard at it, you can do that.

“I’d like to transition into movies, TV, maybe some behind-the-scenes stuff here at TNA, or as a commentator. Eventually, my plan is to move to Wyoming on a big place of land and hunt, and fish, and spend time with my family and travel, and do some charity work.”

Craig is off duty this week due to a family matter, so the following report comes courtesy of my good colleagues at 1Wrestling.com, I urge you to check out the original piece here.

Jeff Jarrett was back from Mexico to celebrate his birthday. He brought his own presents to the party, for the members of Immortal. Plus, Sting got his rematch against Ken Anderson for the World title.

The show opened with a look at Sting’s odd behavior in recent weeks. Bully Ray told Ken Anderson that he was either with Immortal or against them. Immortal got a new member with Ken Anderson

This Week’s Episode: Mid-Summer’s Nightmare

The Immortal music rang out as Hogan and crew came out in tuxs and the girls were smoking hot in skimpy dresses. Not sure who the chicks were. Bischoff had a card table set up in the ring. Bischoff said the table was there to gamble with people’s careers. Bischoff talked about Ken Anderson’s recent party that no one attended. Bischoff said this party was for Ken. Bischoff said the party was there to show solidarity. Bischoff was certain that Anderson was going to leave the show as World Champ. Bischoff called out Anderson.

The lights went out and Sting was at the card table, seated. Bischoff didn’t know what Sting was up to. Eric said Sting had become the cancer and it was up to Ken to excise it. Sting felt confident that he would regain the title and start the return of Dixie Carter. Hogan threatened to strip off his tux and kick Sting’s backside. Hogan said Sting would leave the Impact Zone on a stretcher. Sting said “No” about a million times, in a hundred different ways (slight exaggeration). Sting said he had tons of Aces in the hole. Sting reminded Hogan and Bischoff that they were on a short leash with the Network. Sting said he came prepared with Magic Bullet Aces. There were other clowns up in the rafters. Sting rambled a bit more then the lights went out. I am almost positive those clowns were Los Payasos from AAA.

It was time for an update of the Bound For Glory Series. The various people talked about their desire to win.

Bobby Roode vs The Pope vs Samoa Joe

Bound For Glory Match, Triple Threat

Joe attacked Bobby as Pope looked on. Joe pounded away on the Canadian and Pope tried to steal the win. Joe with a Headbutt on Pope and pitched him to the outside. Joe dropped Bobby with a Jumping Enziguri. Bobby started to fight back but fell victim to a Snap Powerslam. Joe tired to slap on an Arm Bar Submission but Pope made the save. Double R Spinebuster by Roode on Joe. Pope then with the Outer Sweep on Bobby. Pope with a Knife Edge on Roode. Pope cranked on Bobby’s hurt arm . Pope with a wild Uppercut. Pope with a wicked Power Drive DDT for a two on Roode. Pope with the Fistdrop on Roode. Bobby kicked out at two. Pope kept Joe from getting back in the ring. Bobby dodged the DDE and exploded on Pope with several Clotheslines. Bobby with a Side Russian Legsweep and a Haymaker to Joe. Buffbuster by Roode on Pope for a two.

Bobby ran Pope into the corners. Pope got a boot up and climbed to the middle rope. Bobby caught Pope and went for a Superplex. Joe with a Headbutt on Bobby and went for the Muscle Buster. Bobby with a boot to Joe’s mid-section. Bobby went for the Perfectplex but Pope broke things up. Bobby flipped Pope on the apron Joe went for the Kokina Clutch but Roode bridged backwards and pinned Joe!

Your Winner: Bobby Roode (+7)

Grade: B+ (88%)

Joe went off on Earl Hebner for the call. The other refs rushed down to protect him. The Jarretts arrive din the back for La Fiesta.

Hogan told everyone he wanted the head of Sting cut off tonight. Bischoff said he wanted them to remain professional, Eric went off on Abyss for losing the X-title. The Jarretts walked in and put sombreros on everyone in sight. No one looked happy to see them. Jeff had a silver briefcase he wanted to share with everyone. It was a new belt.

Elsewhere, Pope talked with Devon’s kids. They supported Pope. Devon walked up and wanted to know what the Hell was going on. He made it clear he didn’t want his kids around Pope. Pope told the kids to walk off and Devon was not happy. Devon reminded Pope that the kids were nothing to him. Devon called him a two-bit con. Devon told Pope that he didn’t trust Pope. Pope said Devon’s mistrust could come back and bite him in the backside.

Impact ran a highlight reel from Destination X. it was incredible, from what I’ve heard. The video clips were amazing.

Shannon Moore vs Austin Aries

Aries won an Impact Wrestling Contract at Destination X. The two men locked up and Moore with Arm Drags to send Aries flying. Aries with an Amateur Takedown and Backride. Moore tore into Aries in the corner. Aries with a tight Kneelift. Moore sent Aries to the ropes and tripped him on the rebound. Aries scooted to the corner. Moore with an Irish Whip but Aries with a pair of Float Overs. Moore with a Rollup. Aries went for a School Boy but a Standing Switch gave Moore the advantage. Aries tried to Skin the Cat but a Dropkick stopped him. Moore with a Flip Dive over the top rope. Moore pitched Aries back in the ring. Moore hit the Morgasm to get only a two. Aries slid under the ropes and grabbed Moore’s book of Dilligaf. Aries took the chain that had been on the book and cracked Moore in the face. Aries with a Springboard Senton.

Your Winner: Austin Aries

Grade: B+ (88%)

Alex Shelley went off on Austin Aries for the cheating win.

Abyss talked about Bischoff and Hogan being made at him. He was determined to get things back. One of the clowns attacked Abyss with a baseball bat. That looked like Murder Clown with a new mask.

Shannon Moore was complaining about how Aries cheated him. Aries said it was all about winning. Aries said he couldn’t be beaten.

Tara talked about her match against Madison Rayne, later in the night. Rayne wanted to give Tara an out but Tara didn’t want it. The two women have fought backstage. Madison was there to say that she was Tara’s first match when Tara came to TNA. Madison said she was planning on being in Tara’s final match. Tara said Madison did do a lot for her. Tara had a present for Madison. Tara said it was waiting for her, after the match.

Kurt Angle and others did a promo for Philadelphia. It was all about Bound For Glory. This year, it would come from Philly.

Backstage, Scott Steiner flirted with a redhead. He was taken out by another clown.

Madison Rayne vs Tara

Madison looked like a younger version of Vickie Guerrero. Tara rode out on the motorcycle and brought the present to the ring. Madison didn’t want to wit for her pressie. I’m thinking the return of Poison. Madison wanted Tara to lie down and let her pin her. Tara was almost amused by the request. Madison pushed Tara and the Black Widow uncorked on her with fists and Clotheslines. Scoop Slam into the Standing Moonsault by Tara. Tara slammed Madison’s head into the canvas, over and over. Madison with a Jawbreaker. Madison wanted the Rayne of Terror but Tara reversed it into a Clothesline. Tara with the Spider’s Web Side Slam. Madison blocked the Widow’s Peak and kicked Tara in the face. Madison with an Irish Whip and caught Tara’s boots. Tara with a punch but Madison kicked Tara off the apron. Tara’s face struck the apron. The two girls fought on the floor.

Madison took the box and started to unwrap it. Yep, it was Poison! Tara watched Madison trip out and then nailed the Widow’s Peak!

Your Winner: Tara

Grade: B (84%)

After the match, Tara retrieved her spider and taunted Madison with it. Madison took off at warp speed to avoid the tarantula. Tara chased Madison to he back with the spider. I always wanted one of them. It would have gotten named Fluffy.

Magnus and Williams talked about Rob Terry rejoining them. Williams said it was the perfect time to set their sights on the tag belts.

Kurt Angle walked from the back. Kurt is next in line for a shot at the World title. Kurt was all smiles as he talked about being the top contender. He would face the champ at Hardcore Justice. He was curious who his opponent would be. Kurt would prefer to battle Ken. He has a history with Ken and wanted to get some revenge. Kurt said he wanted to hurt Ken. He then talked about his history with Sting, including the Empty Arena match. Kurt has never beaten Sting and it didn’t set well with Kurt. He wanted a chance to correct that malfunction.

The fiesta was over and Jeff and Karen were on their way back to Mexico with the Immortal World Title belt. When Karen opened the van, a clown popped out and destroyed Jeff. He dragged Double J out of the camera shot.

Hernandez y Anarchia (Mexican America) vs Douglas Williams and Brutus Magnus (British Invasion)

Number One Tag Team Contender Match

The muchachas weren’t with the vatos. I want to send get well wishes out to Sarita. She had some kind of injury that partially paralyzed her face and took her out of the week-end Triplemania show in AAA. Anarchia and Hernandez rambled until the music of the Brits hit.

Magnus and Williams went to town on the Mexicans. Magnus tore into Anarchia in the ring. Williams had taken out Hernandez with a Tope Suicida. Williams tagged in and pounded away. Williams ran over Anarchia but Hernandez hit a knee to the back to stop Williams. Hernandez with the Springboard Shoulder Tackle off the hidden tag. Hernandez with the Standing Backbreaker. He then nailed the Dropping Backbreaker. Anarchia tagged back in and Hernandez sat Williams on the top rope. Anarchia kicked Williams and Hernandez went to the floor to choke the Brit. Hernandez rolled Williams in and Anarchia continued the assault.

Anarchia with a Front Face Lock. Mexican America with a Leapfrog Double Team. Hernandez threatened the Border Toss but Williams blocked t. Hernandez got nailed by the Morningstar Uppercut. Williams was busted open.

Magnus got the tag and went to town on Anarchia, who had also tagged in. Hernandez with the illegal moves. Magnus Clotheslined Hernandez and then hit the Sit-Out Powerslam on Anarchia. The Brits with the Double Team. Magnus with the Savage Elbow for a two. The Brits hit a Flying European Uppercut off the ropes. Hernandez used the distraction of Rosita to crack Magnus in the head. The ref didn’t see anything and the ref made the count.

Your Winners: Mexican America

Grade: B (85%)

Gunner and Bully Ray talked with Eric Bischoff. Bischoff was worried that someone needed to take out Sting. Gunner and Ray wanted to find the clowns before they found them.

Brian Kendrick was thrilled to have earned the X-Division title. Alex Shelley won the number one contendership after Ultimate X. The two will fight in the near future. The two will meet, next week, for the belt.

Taz and Tenay looked at the attacks by the Psycho Clowns.

In the parking lot, the four clowns came out to face Gunner. He was ready to dance. They surrounded Gunner with the baseball bats. The quartet just annihilated the former TV Champ. One of them told Gunner to stay down. It wasn’t Los Payasos. It was…FOURTUNE!

Sting vs Mr. Anderson

Impact/TNA World Heavyweight Title Match

Sting laughed as he walked down to the ring. He used Kaz,, Christopher Daniels, A.J. Styles and James Storm as his back-up all night long. Mr. Anderson was almost on his own for this match. Bully Ray might still be available. Ken called for the Drop Mic but pushed it away, at first. He took it and then changed his mind.

Jeremy Borash did the Buffer-esque introductions. Brian Hebner was the man in charge. Ken showed off his belt as the fans chanted for Sting. Sting staked Ken and moved him to the corner. Ken darted across to avoid being trapped. Ken asked for a Test of Strength but it was a ploy to punch Sting. Sting took the punches and seriously No-Sold them. I kept waiting for Sting to utter “Brains” and take a bite out of Ken. Sting wit Over Hand Clubs. Sting with an Inverted Atomic Drop and Standing Dropkick. Ken bailed out of the ring.

Sting continued to blast Ken after Ken tried to Shoulder from the outside. Stinger Splash by the challenger. Sting got Dropkicked on the second attempt. At a stinger Splash. Ken went to work on Sting’s left leg. Ken dropped his knee onto Sting’s bad knee. Ken then punched at Sting’s painted face. Ken locked in the Scorpion Deathlock/Sharpshooter. Sting made it to the ropes. Ken drove Sting’s knee into the canvas and then dropped his weight on the extended leg, which was on the bottom rope. 1-2-no.

Ken wanted a Single Leg Crab but Sting kicked free. Sting blocked a punch and hit a hard one of his own. Sting was limping as he uncorked rights, lefts, backhands and a Clothesline. . Sting lifted Ken and dropped him onto the ropes. Sting with the Mic Check! 2 count only. Sting was limping badly as he went after Ken. Ken lifted Sting and spun him around, knocking out Hebner. Sting got Ken in the Scorpion Deathlock. Ken tapped out but there was no ref.

Bully Ray hit the ring to attack Sting. Fourtune had missed the former Team 3D member. Ray unhooked the chain from his pants and threatened to whip Sting. Ray told Ken to hold Sting up. Ray wrapped the chain around his fist. The lights went out and a clown was in the ring. It was Kurt Angle, I think. The lights went out, again and the clown was on the ramp. Sting with the Scorpion Deathdrop. 1—-2—-3!

Your Winner (and NEW World Champ): Sting!

Grade: A (96%)

The clown ripped off his mask and YES it was Kurt!

Peace

The UK TV Ratings are in for the week ending 10th July 2011 and it’s further good news for IMPACT Wrestling on Challenge!

According to the Broadcasters Audience Research Board – IMPACT Wrestling scored a huge 216,000 viewers, for the Tuesday 5th July “Please Stand Up” episode headlined by a Sting vs. Scott Steiner main event.

Sting: New "Crazed" side to his character has proved a hit with UK viewers.

This was down 20,000 from last weeks all time high viewership record of 236,000 but was nonetheless a very strong showing. This extends IMPACT Wrestling streak as the top rated wrestling program on UK television to 14 consecutive weeks.

It would be appear that IMPACT Wrestling on Challenge is beginning to consistently break the 200,000 mark and rank number 1 each week on Challenge, something I’m sure both IMPACT Wrestling and BSKYB/Challenge will be very pleased with.

The saturday night replay made the top 10 again this week, with its airing on Challenge+1 garnering 30,000 viewers.

TNA Xplosion, featuring a Jeremy Buck vs. Shannon Moore “Xplosion Championship Challenge” match, ranked outside the top 10 highest rated programs on Challenge TV and thus i’m unable to confirm the exact viewing figures for the episode. However the lowest ranked of the top 10, Play Your Cards Right, drew 128,000 viewers, meaning TNA Xplosion falls somewhere below that figure.

Here is the Top 10 ranked programs on Challenge for the week:

“I would love to work with AJ Styles. We always used to call him ‘AJ Steals’ because we thought he was always stealing our moves. But I knew him since he was just a kid breaking into the business. But I would also like to work with Kurt Angle again and to see him again. But in the WWE, I guess a heel Randy Orton would be good to work against.”
