IMPACT WRESTLING HITS & MISSES 19/07/11

Sting becoming a 4 time TNA World Heavyweight Champion this week on Impact Wrestling

A little bit late this week but nonetheless, here is my weekly rundown of this weeks edition of Impact Wrestling Hits & Misses…

THIS WEEKS HITS

Evil Clowns
Since they are going down the “joker” thing with Sting, it only made sense they used the first part (minus the bus and they didnt shoot each other) of “The Dark Knight”. In a way im glad they didnt use this to introduce new wrestlers to our screens as that would have sucked, but using Fortune was great, as it kept the ongoing feud alive with Immortal alive by the clowns attacking members one by one, plus its quite funny to see Karen screaming and running in heels (should always look in the back seat of cars before getting into them). Gunner looked the strongest of Immortal by wanting to go out looking for them but didnt expect getting jumped by all 4 of them

Samoa Joe vs The Pope vs Robert Roode
Although I like the BFG Series and this week they have stated that there are 8 weeks left but they havent stated how many matches everyone will compete in? So someone like Crimson can have 10 matches but Gunner could have like 5 (in theory). However the match itself was good, playing up more to that Joe thinks he’s keeps gettng screwed by the referee. The match may have lasted 5 minutes or so but it kept all the action coming fast, which was good, the ending I thought was cleverly played out, The pope kicked off the apron and Joe constantly going for the 10 points in any match and it always backfires on him. Hopefully Joe bounces back soon and starts earning some points. Read more of this post

IMPACT WRESTLING HITS & MISSES – 12/07/11

Jack Evans hits the 630 and makes his way to Destination X

After another great Impact Wrestling and a great build up to Destination X tomorrow night, again I have given my thoughts to what went down in this weeks edition of Impact Wrestling…

This Weeks Hits

Jack Evans vs Tony Nese vs Jesse Sorensen
Just like last weeks 3 way X Division, lots of high spots and fast pace action, Jack Evans is over with the crowd big time! How has he not already been snapped up by TNA already is beyond me and ill be honest this was the first time i ever watched him perform the 630! One word to describe that AMAZING!!. The 4 way X division showcase at Destination X has everything on paper to steal the show and hopefully TNA will hand out more than 1 contract in that match.

Destination X build up
Amazing! Just amazing, in the last two weeks the build up to the PPV has been brilliant i literally cannot wait to see it! Having all of the X Division wrestlers talking about what it all means, you can hear the passion they have for it and are right by saying it’s what TNA was founded on. One thing im not too keen on was Douglas Williams open challenge, a few days isn’t enough to generate any buzz on who it can or can’t be plus whether it will be someone on the roster, someone who used to be on the roster or a fresh face to Impact Wrestling? Who Knows. Having Eric Bischoff talk about how the X Division wrestlers aint the “normal” size of wrestlers (something I bet Vinny Mac wanted to go on record saying) is good, gives him the heat and I personally hope Bischoff/X Division feud doesn’t end any time soon. Sting attacks Eric Bischoff and smears him with red paint
Bully Ray d. Scott Steiner in a BFG Series match after using a chain for a tainted victory
Bischoff asks Mr. Anderson to reconsider his offer of a spot in Immortal
ODB & Jackie d. Velvet Sky & Ms. Tessmacher
A war of words between Madison Rayne and Tara ahead of their July 14th match
Matt Morgan & Crimson d. Beer Money in a BFG Series Tag Match
AJ announces his return to the X-Division at Destination X, agrees to a match with Daniels, who overlooks Samoa Joe who seemed set to offer a rematch of their legendary Unbreakable Three-Way.
Samoa Joe takes out his frustrations by attacking Kazarian backstage
Zima Ion d. Federico Palacios & Dakota Darsow to progress to Destination X and a chance at an IMPACT Wrestling contract.
Winter d. TNA Knockouts Champ Mickie James in a non-title bout following interference from Angelina Love
Abyss d. Sting via DQ after Sting uses a Barbed Wire glove to cut him open as Mr. Anderson looked on.

I’ll start by apologizing again for the lateness of the report have got a few things taking up my time at the mo. So if Ray can’t get the usually graphics and stuff up as I know he is busy for a bit himself too so I hope it doesn’t spoil your enjoyment of this weeks column.

The show opens with a recap of the events of last week between Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle. We head inside to the iMPACT Wrestling Zone and Jeff is talking to Eric Bischoff about how he comments last week were a joke. Eric says the Network want it to stand, and anyway they need a guy in Mexico to make the rules down their and Jeff would be perfect. Good stuff and this explains why I have been seeing bits about Jeff being in Mexico and winning titles down their, this could be a really good angle for TNA. Read more of this post

IMPACT Wrestling News & Notes

TNA Creative Director Vince Russo: Mr. Unpopular right now?

TNA Creative Director Vince Russo: Mr. Unpopular right now?

- The decision not to re-sign Tommy Dreamer to a new contract surprised a lot of people within TNA. At one point, Dreamer apparently had a decent amount of office power and had been talked about as someone who could work as an agent or help with creative.

- Right now there are a lot of creative issues within TNA. The Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff contingent is openly complaining about the writing of Vince Russo. It’s said that Jeff Jarrett is also frustrated with Russo, after years of defending his work. The feeling is that Russo is pretty much locked in place because Dixie Carter feels a loyalty to him.

- TNA is going with the idea right now to elevate Gunner, Crimson and Robert Roode to top spots in the company.

- The 2011 TNA Hard Justice PPV will be held on August 7th, 2011 at Universal Studios in Orlando.

After finally catching up on much needed and sorely missed sleep, your Xplosion reporter for TNAUK.tk is ready to finally write about the TNA VIP Fan Party in Manchester.

We enter the “secret location” and are directed straight up stairs to a private function room packed full of disco balls and colourful lights. On the dancefloor is a projection screen, currently showing the very latest, and unaired Impact Wrestling. To the left is a closed off area, with Jeremy Borash and the lovely Jade O’Malley, who will be helping to give out merchandise throughout the evening. Along with JB and Jade were other staff, there to not only help the night run smoothly and take over in the “production” booth when JB was elsewhere, but also to film segments such as a special Spin Cycle later on. TNA UK Fan Party Report – 25/05/2011

Thanks to Chris Kelly for sending this report from the UK fan party:

TNA Wrestling/Impact Wrestling held their second “UK Party” thursday night in Manchester at a secret location. I would say there was about 200-300 people at the event location and when 7 pm came around, we were lead to the top floor of the club to be greeted by JB.

We were joined by Jeff and Karen Jarrett via skype who, like last time, called us free loading wankers and challenged Prince William and Katie Middleton to a match on the 2012 Maximum Impact tour. After the Jarrett’s left, TNA Wrestler Brutus Magnus joined the party and was very pleasant taking photos with fans and challenging them to drinking contests. Read more of this post

THIS WEEK ON IMPACT WRESTLING:
Mr. Anderson continues the mindgames with his “surprise” for Sting
Ric Flair calls out Robert Roode
Gunner let’s Eric Young know he’s not in the mood for fun and games
Velvet Sky d. Winter & Angelina Love
Matt Hardy & Eric Bischoff d. Generation Me
Kurt Angle & Jeff Jarrett agree to bout at Slammiversary with #1 Contendership & Olympic Gold medal on the line.
Tommy Dreamer shows AJ Styles that his actions are of his own choice
 Samoa Joe d. Amazing Red
Abyss d. Kazarian to Win the X-Division Title
Mickie James, Miss Tessmacher and Tara d. Madison Rayne, Sarita & Rosita
Eric Bischoff vows to destroy the X-Division

First off, deserved mention for TNA producers David Sahadi and Kevin Sullivan who did an amazing job with the new opening video and graphics for IMPACT Wrestling, great stuff. The new blue colour scheme is a lot easier on the eye and the re-designed set looked great.

However the more things change the more they stay the same as the IMPACT Wrestling era started exactly how the Impact era started for the past year: Immortal’s theme music and too many non-wrestlers walking to the ring and an eventual all out brawl between warring factions. Don’t get me wrong, i liked the segement and it set up the premise for the show well, it just felt repetitive. Read more of this post
