TNA Xplosion Report – Friday 15/10/2010

By Raymond Mullan

Broadcast Friday 15/10/2010 at 9pm on the Extreme Sports Channel

Commentators: Jeremy Borash & Taz

Welcome humanoids it’s what you’ve all been waiting for, Bound For Glory build-up, iMPACT! replays and Orlando Jordan and Eric Young Main Eventing!! Yes it could only be TNA Xplosion!!

Sorry to disappoint this week, i’ve only got quick results for you, to cut a long story short, a severity 1 outage at work, a funeral, christening and a root canal all in the space of two days is just too much! You can however watch this weeks show on this very site by clicking here.

  • Sarita d. TNA Knockouts Champion Angelina Love in a non-title match via a roll-up and grabbing the tights.
  • Orlando Jordan & Eric Young d. Rob Terry and Suicide after a low blow and a small package from Orlando Jordan on Suicide.

Before you go though, would just like to give my two cents on Bound For Glory. The show was easily the PPV of the year, some great matches and some shocking twists and turns. Alright, we all saw Hogan/Bischoff coming but did anyone, ANYONE think that Jeff Hardy would turn heel let alone win the World Title aswell? No-One even the smartest of fans saw that one coming, in fact the entire staff here at TNA UK went with Angle or Anderson in our predictions column.

I have to admit, i watched the PPV early. Usually i wait for the Extreme Sports Channel broadcast but five days was just too long a wait for a PPV of this magnitude. I had some friends and family over and we had a BFG party. The place literally erupted at the ending, everyone was shocked. The only downer was my 5 year old son, who cried because Jeff is his hero and he didn’t want him to be a “Bad Guy”, however he cheered up a bit when he saw Hardy with the gold, i guess if wrestling’s a morality tale like they say it is, my son just learnt “Nice guys finish last and the end justifies the means.” Thanks Russo! 🙂

Anyway i guess that’s the kind of reaction that TNA were looking, it was truly shocking and the fans showed their disgust by pelting the ring with garbage ala WCW Bash at the Beach 96, if WWE were smart and weren’t aiming at children as their target market, they could have done it even bigger by turning Cena, thankfully TNA got there first. I really feel this could be the angle that really gets TNA going as competition to WWE, the TV Ratings, PPV buys and general ineterest surrounding this storyline has been huge, apparently crashed on the night of the PPV due to high demand and i know for a fact we quadrupled our usual hit numbers in one day, it was unreal. Thank You TNA, but remember, its the follow up that counts – they need to build on this and sustain the interest, that’s the key.

The Xplosion report will be back in full next week with all the bells and whistles, until then adios!
