Another Side to the Ric Flair Europe Incident

Ric Flair - Apparently owed money

According to newspaper columnist Mike Mooneyham, Ric Flair is owed a “considerable amount” of backpay by TNA, which prompted Flair’s dispute with management on last week’s European Tour.

Mooneyham, a long-time friend of Flair’s, said on the Ringside Rap radio show earlier this week that Flair asked for advanced pay based on TNA owing him money for future dates on the tour and money unrelated to the tour.

“They owe him what I would consider a considerable amount of pay,” Mooneyham said, adding that Flair felt disrespected by TNA on the tour.

Mooneyham said Flair isn’t blaming TNA tour coordinator Craig Jenkins, who reportedly refused to give Flair an advance draw. Mooneyham says Flair was told it’s because of a policy that was started when Dustin Rhodes abused the system. “‘Am I Dustin Rhodes? Is that my spot in the company?'” asked Flair, according to Mooneyham.

The root of the dispute is Flair expected a certain “Ric Flair star treatment” when he signed on with TNA in 2010. “The big thing with Ric is respect,” Mooneyham said. “He doesn’t want to be treated like Joe Jabroni. That’s pretty much how he was treated.”

According to Mooneyham, Flair intended to sit out one tour date – when they were in Germany – to make a point about how he felt he was treated by TNA. Flair told Mooneyham he’s only sat out three dates his entire career.

Mooneyham said stories that Flair was “hitting up guys for money” at bars are untrue, which has been used to discredit Flair’s request for an advanced draw.

Sources tell the Torch that Flair was buying drinks for talent and non-talent throughout the tour. Mooneyham said Flair’s response to stories he was asking wrestlers for money is, “‘Those guys don’t have any money anyways.'”

TNA has no idea how to treat A list talent like Flair and Hogan. They are lucky to have Flair at all. Everyone wants Flair back home at WWE. Maybe if TNA doesn’t clue in soon we will all get our wish!!!

Keep in mind the source of this news when reading this report. Mooneyham has interviewed Flair in the past and is very anti-TNA & pro-Ric Flair with his blogs. That is also obvious from the blog quotes above, especially the “He wants to be respected and he certainly deserves respect.” line.

Numerous TNA sources also deny this report. Please take this for what it’s worth.
