TNA UK TV RATINGS – WEEK ENDING 10TH JULY 2011

IMPACT Wrestling on Challenge

IMPACT Wrestling on Challenge

The UK TV Ratings are in for the week ending 10th July 2011 and it’s further good news for IMPACT Wrestling on Challenge!

According to the Broadcasters Audience Research Board – IMPACT Wrestling scored a huge 216,000 viewers, for the Tuesday 5th July “Please Stand Up episode headlined by a Sting vs. Scott Steiner main event.

Sting: New "Crazed" side to his character has proved a hit with UK viewers.

Sting: New "Crazed" side to his character has proved a hit with UK viewers.

This was down 20,000 from last weeks all time high viewership record of 236,000 but was nonetheless a very strong showing. This extends IMPACT Wrestling streak as the top rated wrestling program on UK television to 14 consecutive weeks.

It would be appear that IMPACT Wrestling on Challenge is beginning to consistently break the 200,000 mark and rank number 1 each week on Challenge, something I’m sure both IMPACT Wrestling and BSKYB/Challenge will be very pleased with.

The saturday night replay made the top 10 again this week, with its airing on Challenge+1 garnering 30,000 viewers.

TNA Xplosion, featuring a Jeremy Buck vs. Shannon Moore “Xplosion Championship Challenge” match, ranked outside the top 10 highest rated programs on Challenge TV and thus i’m unable to confirm the exact viewing figures for the episode. However the lowest ranked of the top 10, Play Your Cards Right, drew 128,000 viewers, meaning TNA Xplosion falls somewhere below that figure.

Here is the Top 10 ranked programs on Challenge for the week:

CHAVO GUERRERO INTERESTED IN WORKING FOR IMPACT WRESTLING?

Chavo Guerrero was on Right After Wrestling Radio this week and mentioned who he would like to wrestle:

“I would love to work with AJ Styles. We always used to call him ‘AJ Steals’ because we thought he was always stealing our moves. But I knew him since he was just a kid breaking into the business. But I would also like to work with Kurt Angle again and to see him again. But in the WWE, I guess a heel Randy Orton would be good to work against.”

AJ STYLES INTERVIEW WITH THE DAILY STAR: WANTS TO TOUR UK TWICE A YEAR

AJ Styles: Wants to tour UK twice a year!

AJ Styles: Wants to tour UK twice a year!

Check out an excellent interview with AJ Styles in The Daily Star (first published in Friday’s newspaper). In the chat with Patrick Lennon, AJ discusses touring the UK, Destination X and dealing with criticism.

AJ STYLES says he wants to tour Britain twice a year, because once is simply not enough. In an exclusive interview, the Phenomenal Georgia-born wrestling ace, whose name is synonymous with the very highest quality matches, tells FT that he thinks his company should hop the pond more often.

He says: “I want to do it twice a year. The British fans aren’t going to be bored by seeing us twice.  Read more of this post

PROBLEMS BETWEEN RIC FLAIR AND TNA?

Ric Flair: At odds with TNA Management?

Ric Flair: At odds with TNA Management?

According to the Wrestling Observer, things between TNA and Ric Flair don’t appear to be good right now following an incident at the 7/1 TNA house show in Brooklyn, NY where Flair didn’t appear before the audience despite being advertised to do so.

Flair was not booked for the most recent set of iMPACT! Wrestling TV tapings in Orlando this week and was also left off tapings heading into the Destination X PPV as well. The story provided by some in TNA was that Flair wasn’t going to be booked for those TV tapings anyway since the build was for an all X Division PPV, yet the shows leading into the PPV still had major storylines developing.

Flair also wasn’t booked before the Brooklyn event for a while in what some viewed as a cost-cutting measure since he is one of the highest paid people on the roster currently. It should be noted that D’Lo Brown was the TNA agent at the Brooklyn house show and had words with Flair who didn’t want to go out in front of the people. Flair stated he wasn’t told he would be performing and that he agreed to do an autograph signing as a favor to Terry Taylor (the former VP of TNA talent relations, a title now held by former WWE employee Bruce Prichard). He ended up making an appearance in Asbury Park, New Jersey the following night in front of a much smaller crowd.

More as we get it.

UPDATE ON IMPACT WRESTLING GOING ON THE ROAD

TNA's last show on the road was in Fayetteville, NC and was deemed a success.

TNA's last TV Taping on the road was in Fayetteville, NC and was deemed a success.

TNA and Spike TV are announcing upcoming IMPACT Wrestling TV tapings on the road in Huntsville, AL on 8/25, Knoxville, TN on 9/21 and Macon, GA on 10/26 is a three month experiment to see if it makes a difference in the television ratings. Spike will be the ones making the call on this decision since they are providing a majority of the funding. The general agreement among many in TNA is that taking the show on the road is the best thing to do, but they also aren’t in a position financially to do it on a regular basis without Spike’s help.

BREAKING NEWS: TNA XPLOSION CHANGING NIGHTS/TIMESLOT ON CHALLENGE

IMPACT Wrestling on Challenge

IMPACT Wrestling on Challenge

Breaking News…From next week (July 20th) TNA’s syndicated show “Xplosion” is moving to Wednesday nights at 10pm. Unless there is a PPV event on the Wednesday in which case it will revert back to the Tuesday night after IMPACT WRESTLING.”

Ray’s Thoughts: Great news for TNA fans. Common complaint was always that Xplosion was airing too late in the night for many to stay up, instead opting to DVR the show to watch next day, which obviously meant the show took a knock in the ratings. This move means Xplosion is now on a prime time slot and gives TNA fans yet another night to enjoy wrestling action each week! We should be recieving the full press release from TNA Entertainment and BSKYB/Challenge in due course, stay tuned…
